I'm still alive

I haven't posted in a while. Either busy or tired. Kids sick. My body is trying to get sick and part of it is trying to fight it off. Feel weird. Hate it. Started dieting on Monday, so far so good. Went skiing last Saturday at the Canyons. Tons of fun but it killed my legs. So out of shape. Dani coming into towwn Firday. Have lots of plans. Skiing again on Saturday! Planted some seeds yesterday in mini green houses on window sill. Excited for spring. So nice outside today and yesterday. Be back to post some REAL posts soon enough.

Field Trip!

Today we went to John Hutchings Museum of Natural History in Lehi. Wow! I'm impressed at that place! It's so small and yet they managed to do a very good job with it. The kids LOVED it! I'll definitely have to take the kids there again.

The kids got to try on a bunch of old hats. The red machine they're standing in front of was used to spray water on fires in the early 1900's.

The kids in jail! Elizabeth wasn't sure what to think of being locked up in a cage. Poor thing!

Free at last!!!

A Home-Schooled Valentine

Since the kids are being home-schooled, we decided to a Valentine Party at home. We played games, passed out Valentines, decorated sugar cookies and ate lots of yummy food! The kids had lots of fun and didn't even seem to miss having a school party.
Here's a picture of me and Heather....
....it always seems I have to take my OWN pictures!
Here are Jon and Jordan. Jon just started home-schooling a week or two ago, so he joined us for our party. Man, that kid has some ENERGY!
Elizabeth seems so little to me until she gets next to Isabelle.
She's not a baby anymore! =( From the red-head in the army suit going clockwise:
Kayden, Jon, Zach, CJ, Haylee and Lauren.

Happy Birthday, Zach!

Yesterday was Zach's 6th birthday. We only do big parties on the kids' 5th, 8th, 12th and 16th birthdays. We did have a few family members over, though, to help us celebrate. Grandpa Kurt & Barbara were there. They got Zach a "Stunt Copter", which is really cool and Zach LOVES it! Grandma Maddy, Shunae and Kayden came. Grandma is going to make him an outfit for the Rendezvous. Heather, Clark, CJ & Isabelle brought Zach some candy and some cool spider man toys. Dad got Zach his own pocket knife. (The blade is VERY much dulled and the point VERY much blunted! Don't worry!) Mom got him a giant box of "Zachary" chocolates. And we all got him a double barrel rifle and bow & arrow (fake, of course!).
zachs bday

We also bobbed for apples and then made caramel apples. The kids loved bobbing....especially Izzy! It was so freakin cute!
My creation

Sick

Lauren was sick with the flu a couple days ago. Elizabeth was feeling bad for her and kept climbing on top of Lauren to give her hugs. I just thought it was so cute, I had to post.

The Year of the Rat

This Wednesday was our 2nd week of co-op. We have a co-op of 5 different homeschooling families. We get together every Wednesday and the mom's teach different classes. I teach Science to the younger kids and cooking to all the kids. Yesterday we had a "Chinese New Year Festival" because we're studying China in our Geography unit. We made fried rice and lo mein noodles for our cooking class. We also had dumplings, sweet & sour chicken, egg rolls and fortune cookies for our "feast".

Jordan wanted me to paint a Chinese symbol on his face. I was going to do rat since it's the year of the rat. But it was way too complicated for me. So I chose the chinese symbol of the day, which was "sky".

There was Chinese music playing and the kids were dancing with their dragons that they made. Haylee took this very seriously.

About 10 minutes into this dancing Zach decided that his dragon needed to be fighting. Go figure.... (Sorry, no pictures of that!)

Jordan was too cool to make a dragon, but not too cool to dance with his baby sister!
